Mentioned in the SF Chronicle

From the SF Chronicle’s square miles series, we found ourselves in a nice write-up:

Another standout is a down-home bar, newly ambitious since we first checked things out for last fall’s 49 Square Mile special issue.

Doctor’s Lounge opened in 1951 as the Question Mark, morphed into The DR’s in 1988, and acquired its current name in November under new owners Rochelle McCune and David Henry.

Playing on medical puns, with mottos like “Our shots won’t make you cry” and “Your prescription for tasty food and cocktails,” the bar carries out the 1950s theme with its look and vibe.

It’s also the site of Pizans Italian Seafood Room, a permanent pop-up offering dinner Fridays through Sundays. Brunch is served on weekends, when the place is likely to be filled with 49ers fans who might have started off snacking on bacon-fried cereal and watching Saturday morning cartoons.

The back room is on its way to becoming what McCune calls “a neighborhood living room,” and she and Henry are experimenting with hosting various other pop-up food services.

It’s terrific to be mentioned in the same class as Broken Record, those guys are awesome.
