About The
Doctor’s Lounge

The Excelsior’s neighborhood hangout turned 60 this year. In 1951, Ernesto Martini opened “?” aka The Question Mark Club. In 1988, when Don & Ron took it over, they changed the name to The DR’s, which quickly became referred to as The Doctors. Now that Don is retiring, we’ve updated the name to Doctor’s Lounge.

We’re committed to keeping some of their traditions alive—Harold continues serving his famous Thursday Night Dinners, and the 49er bus is still going strong.

We’re also starting some of our own traditions—Saturday morning cartoons (snacking on fried cereal) is a great way to start the weekend, and our weekday southern comfort menu is a treat.
